I think you can download the SetupChipset.exe instead of the zip file.  Right click and Run As Admin.

I downloaded Setupchipset.exe, ran as administrator, it started installing and then gave the exact same message, "unknown error".

Try uninstalling Cryptoprevent.  It may be interfering.

Reset Registry Permissions

Reset File Permissions

Register System Files

 

Repair Hosts File

Remove Policies Set By Infections

 

Unhide Non System Files

 

 

Reboot when done then try the install again.

While running I got a message: "one of your programs is behaving strangely, which could be a sign of malware.  C:\windows\Temp\temp51577.reg, infection IDP.generic."

This is from Avast.  I'm guessing this because of tweaking??
