Just want to confirm my understanding. When my HP printer signals that my HP 61 Tri-color Ink Cartridge is empty it means that I cannot use ANY of the colors, right?

 

Is it normal that the color cartridge should be used up in the same period as the black H 61, that gets used >100x more? 

 

Is there any emergency trick to use when one runs confronts a depleted cartridge and needs to squeeze out one-more-page?

Sometimes before, just the one example explanation as to why here there are others on the WWW regarding other brands but the explanations are the same.

 

Can`t be done, a depleted cartridge is just that and with most if not all modern printers there is a chip built into every cartridge that reports the ink level to the printer, once reported empty cartridge replacement or some other form of remedial action is required, some older cartridges for example could be refilled by the user.
