My Boss ran Avast on our work computer & then deleted our data software we use to create customer contracts (File Maker Pro 15) because he said there was malware or something. Ive read that we can easily recover these deletions by using a recovery software. Can I get some recommendations please?

Easy is the key word. My boss is in his 70s & not too computer savvy.

Please & thank you!

I'm not going to suggest any specific programs as I don't want it to seem as though myself (or G2G) is suggesting the use of them over anything else, but I will tell you that there are a multitude of file recovery programs available on the Internet, the issue you face is whether or not Avast deleted the file fully or if it just erased the memory pointers.

Effectively, sometimes when you 'delete' things, all your computer does is forget where it put them. On the flip side, sometimes when things are deleted, their contents are written over with either garbage data or all 0's, and then the computer makes itself forget where it put the file. If the computer simply forgot where the file was stored, that's fixable, the other case... not so much.

Best of luck!
