I can't open my Samsung tablet: just get a screen with the the message "Unfortunately, the process com.android.systemui has stopped." with the option OK. Pressing OK brings up a Samsung disclaimer screen, and confirming that gets me back to "Unfortunately.... etc.

Online searches suggest going to "Settings" and uninstalling updates to Google App, which is no help because I can't actually open anything.

Thanks for any suggestions.

(This is not a good week for my tech stuff. Luckily yesterday the tablet was working which allowed me to use your advice to fix the problem of not being able to use the browsers on my computer.)

Hello sally4,

I don't know the solution to this, but I had a quick search online and came across the following as a possible solution.: -

Method 2: Wipe the device’s cache partition

a) Switch the device off.

b) Boot the device into Recovery Mode (which, on most devices, is done by pressing and holding the Power, Volume Up and Home buttons simultaneously).

c) Once the device has entered Recovery Mode, use the Volume Rocker to highlight the “Wipe Cache Partition” option.

d) Press the Power Button to confirm the selection.

e) Wait for the device to successfully wipe its cache, and then reboot the device.

You didn't actually say which model your Samsung tablet is - but you should check its manual before trying the above, to find out if getting into recovery mode is a possibility. Or if you post details here, we can look to see if we can find out for you.

I don't actually have an Android tablet myself, although I do have an Android phone. :)

Chris.

I couldn't try either of the above suggestions because I couldn't turn the tablet off. Eventually it turned itself off - I assume this happens automatically when the battery runs down. Anyway, when I turned it back on it worked fine. I haven't had any more problems with that issue. Others, yes - I do wish something in the tech world would do what it is supposed to do all the time.

The tablet is a Samsung Galaxy Note 8 that I purchased in 2014.

Thank you for your advice. I'll refer to it again if the problem recurs.

Hello sally4,

Great news that your Samsung Galaxy Note 8 eventually turned itself off and that you were then able to start it again.

Thank you very much for coming back here and updating us. I hope you have no further problems with your tablet.

Chris.
