No, export

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\ROOT_HUB]

Let's see what it looks like now.

Might be worth running Windows Repair All in one and see if it can help with the permissions;

Windows Repair all in one

Download it and save it then run it by right click and Run as admin.

They now have preset options.  Doesn't matter which you choose just

Make sure just these are checked before hitting Start:

Reset Registry Permissions
Reset File Permissions

Reboot when done

ROOT_HUB:

Nobody has Special Permissions, but SYSTEM has Full Control & Read. Everyone has Read.

Each sub-directory: Everyone has Full Control & Read, but nobody has Special Permissions.

Each key has an owner or should. If Windows doesn't know the owner it's hard to make changes. Re-read the link I gave you earlier. It tells how to change the owner so you should be able to see the owner.

Owner: Administrators (NIV\Administrators).

Hold on I need to play a bit with these settings, I foound a way to get permission for the first key, but messed it up, need to reset to default and do it again and then see if it works for the others.

Okay I had to play around with the Owner & permissions tab, but I finally got the ROOT_HUB & ROOT_HUB20 Class to allow me to manually change the strange characters (or in the case of ROOT_HUB which now says USB) to whatever I want.

Because I previously merged the edited reg file for ROOT_HUB successfully, I only had to change the class from ROOT_HUB20 from strange characterto USB which I have now done successfully.

Restarted, but still the speed message appears.

What happens if you go into Device Manager and right click on the USB Root Hubs and Uninstall then Reboot.  Does the key revert back to showing the odd characters or does is say USB

No it doesn't revert. Class for all remains "USB" including ROOT_HUB20 keys.

I'm back and getting over my jet lag.  Can you export

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB\ROOT_HUB20

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{36FC9E60-C465-11CF-8056-444553540000}

Working with the full registry turns out to be too hard since I have to use a special program to read it.

Welcome back! I heard that during landing, if you removed shoes and touched the chair and window housing of the plane rather than the carpet, that jetlag is reduced. ever tried it though.

Really appreciate you for trying to help during the trip too btw, honestly don't know how you find the time to do it all!
