Hi,
Wonder if anyone can help?
I'm looking for a 650W PSU with 5, yes 5, SATA connectors. Budget is limited to £40 -£50.
Anyone able to offer advice?
I have been looking, and searching but am getting lost in specs, this is the first repair iv tried to do.

At a max of £50, if you could find one, it would be of such poor quality, it wold not be worth having.

Hi, and thanks for the reply,
The system spec is not available to me at the moment, but in general the system is a Dell XPS 420.
Since posting the question, iv been advised that a corsair HX 650 or the VS 650 would do the job comfortably.
The main considerations I have are that while the system is elderly, it has been solid, for my purposes, and I am no longer in a position to spend in the region of £800 - £1000, on a new system, I basically write reports and edit photographs on the system.
Your considerations on the items I have been advised as suitable would be very much appreciated, as this is the first time I have attempted to work on a system.

Depending on your Model, it would have come with a 375 or 425 Watt supply.

Still can't find a suitable one at £50.   This 550 W semi modular is what I recommend, and will be more than enough for you system even if you install a GTX `1070 and more HDDs.

Please open your case and check the size of your current PSU to make sure the replacment will fit.

The part you recommended is on order and I'm waiting for delivery, once it's here I will install it, and let you know how it goes.

This forum was almost the folorne hope, as I thought the site would be way above my level of experience, I am happy to have been proven wrong.

good afternoon, 

If iammykyl is still there , please accept my apologies for not replying sooner, circumstances beyond my control, , and my sincere thanks for your help and advice.

New PSU as you recommended arrived and was subsequently fitted, by me, no big thing but, iv not dared to enter the world of the PC innards before, and DELL do not make it easy  the wiring loom was immense, and ran everywhere there was no need to go.

After swap, PC booted without, a problem, seems a lot quicker than it used to be, but again iv taken off everything except, the OS, which iv upgraded to windows 10 and its running very well on this elderly PC.

So again, many thanks, for the advice and guidance , and the confidence to be able, albeit with a great deal of caution, to look at how I can improve this PC, perhaps with better DVD/Blue ray read and write.
