Okay, redsox1. You are obviously going to have to sort out your problems with using Search before you can do anything else. I am sure phillpower2 will help you with that when he is next online. I myself am going to be fully occupied with other problems for quite a time to come, so will have to leave you in his capable hands from now on. :)

If you do want to try something else in the meantime, have a go at No. 2 (Check Windows Search Service) in the following link: -

https://www.maketech...rt-menu-search/

Hope you manage to sort all the problems out very soon.

Chris

EDIT After posting the above, I realised that in the absence of an icon for 'This PC' , you might try pressing the Windows key (see message #57) at the same time as the letter E. You might then be able to continue with the instructions in message #59

Can we have a screenshot of the notebooks desktop screen please redsox1

To capture and post a screenshot;

Click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload... Click on the More Reply Options tab then after typing in any response you have... click on Choose File...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on Attach This File...on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would.

Screenshot instructions are provided to assist those that may read this topic but are not yet aware of the “how to”.

The notebooks desktop is the screen that you see once you boot into Windows, see example attachment.

It is important to only deal with one problem at a time so as to avoid confusion, the issue is also totally unrelated to IE so you will need to start a new thread on the Web Browsers and Email forum here

No all programs. I know it used to be there, but it's gone. There are a couple things there , Home, power and settings.

We need the requested screenshot as detailed above, we are looking to see what is showing on your task bar.

You appear to be having a bit of trouble with using Windows 10, you may wish to consider using a program such as Classic Shell as I do, makes Windows 10 look like Windows 7 and imo far easier to navigate.
