Hi,

I badly need some advice here on how to resolve the following problem.

I downloaded and installed a free family history program today to try it out, but didn't like it so I uninstalled it straight away using Control Panel/Programs and Features/uninstall.

I have all my non essential programs and software installed on a spare internal hdd drive (D/:) to save space on my ssd (C/:) and when installing a program I usually direct the installer to save it to a particular folder I created on the D/: drive, named "Programs and Apps", and I did this with the family history program today. Trouble is that after I uninstalled that program the folders for all my other programs have gone missing.  D/:Programs and Apps had about 30 or more program folders inside it and they have all disappeared. The desktop shortcut icons to those programs not longer work either.

I tried a System Restore to an earlier date but this did not solve the problem, so now I am at a loss as to how to get my programs back again, short of reinstalling them all. Can anyone advise me how I can solve this issue please?

Thanks,

redx.

Recycle bin was the first place I looked but it wasn't there.

Since I posted my problem I have managed to retrieve a couple of programs by doing updates and others I've reinstalled but there are still a few I'm having problems with. When I reinstall them and create a new desktop shortcut there is still no icon picture showing, just a file symbol which doesn't open the program. I'll keep working on it though and will eventually get it sorted.

Thanks for the reply anyway.

Regards,

redx

Sounds like the family tree program you downloaded may have given you a virus. I heard a warning about one this week but I don't recall the name.
