When uploading photos, what data also got uploaded?

When you upload a photo to the internet sites like tumblr or 9gag, what other data is also uploaded with that photo?  In other words, if you post that photo anonymously online, are there data uploaded with that photo that makes it not truly anonymous?  Like, if you look at the source codes (or codes accompanying the photo) for a photo, can you also find its IP address, serial number of the device that took it, GPS location and time where you took it, etc?  I don't know much about this or complex technology in general, but I assume when you upload a photo, not just the photo itself got uploaded, am I right?
