Not sure how best to open the SQ Lite files to be able to view the list of cookies / history that I would want to save !

 

It seems that you nned software that is not within my present Computer.. I think !

The situation is sort of like Firefox being written in Greek, and Windows in Latin ["Esne insanus?, I was asked"]; you can see the words in those files but can't understand them, until they go back into Firefox and It reads them to you...

 

If you do a search in Firefox/Mozilla Support, looking for How To Export Bookmarks, you should find the procedure.  I think you also should find Export Bookmarks by opening the See All Bookmarks page, and looking up near the top. I forget the details, so do the search if 'how to' isn't obvious. Once exported, you will have a file Windows can read.

 

I don't know about History though ... it might be similar.

I was not sure if I needed to download some software to view the files within SQLite...

 

but looking at certain websites that refer to downloads for it, I am rather wary to risk doing so.

 

Unless I am advised by someone whom I believe is knowledgable about doing so.. I will try to investigate further along the lines you advise.

 

At least I have now found where certain Cookies and history files were hiding...

 

Hopefully I will be able to obtain further info that you refer to..

Thanks for finding and posting  the link Spy Dr...

 

It looks like software that one can trust...as opposed to some links that I came across yesterday.

 

So I assume this will enable me to view the list of files in cookies and History...

 

IF I have saved a copy of that / those relevant cookie and history Files of the Firefox browser on my old problem laptop..save to say an external drive.

 

then alter the date on my old laptop... I am guessing that If by altering the date, that the old cookies nd history has disappeared.. that I could maybe reinstall the copy file...or at least access it and hopefully be able to access those past old cookie and history files.. as it was prior to altering the date.

 

OR I maybe unlucky and if I were to reinstall those old files.. it maybe when it reacts to the change in date for whatever reason.. the saved or reinstalled files may not work.

 

I then suspect that I have to do a similar process with google chrome and Internet Explorer files and  try to do similar ...finding also if that has a similar

file to the SQLite  addon..

 

Unless the google chrome and IE cookies and history maybe kept elsewhere...

 

I need to try to do some searching for similar info as you found for Firefox that applies to G Chrome and IE.

I think Internet Explorer cookies are listed in the C Drive /  Windows/ cookies folder so I think I could save that folder..

I am not sure if Sqlite can also be used with Chrome Cookies...

 

one of the links I posted on chrome made a ref to it..
