:welcome:   earlreich,

 i updated my windows 7 to Sp1

Wow, SP1 was released some 6+ years ago, it must have taken you some time to fully update it  :headhurt:

I am surprised that you have ever been able to play Hearts Of Iron IV as your hardware is well below the spec required to play it (RAM and GPU) see here but as you have been able to play it something else must have changed, we need some further info see below;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here,  this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

NB: Just so that you are aware, your thread was moved here as it is a more appropriate forum for resolving hardware issues while the How-To Guides and Tutorials forum is for "Essential how-to guides and tutorials for everything from computer basics to Windows optimization. Submitted by staff and members."

No problem and you are not wasting anyone's time earlreich so don`t worry.

Got your Speccy link

As mentioned previously your GPU and RAM are not up to the specs required to play Hearts Of Iron IV and after looking at your Speccy report we can see that your MB and CPU are running hot and especially for a computer that is not under any load, once you start gaming the temperatures will increase and your processor will be throttled back to prevent it from frying and that is why you are getting the drop in performance.

Solution, upgrade your RAM to 8GB (2X4GB sticks) fit an add on video card** and upgrade your cooling system, for the most effective cooling if possible you should have at least one cooling fan at the front of the case to draw in cool/clean air and one at the rear of the case to expel the hot air, this is called the pull/push method, good cable management and a regular clean out of heat trapping dust will also help.

We understand that folk cannot just go out and spend cash on upgrades and may have to do things as funds become available, in the least expensive order you should improve the cooling fans > upgrade the RAM > fit an add on video card.

** Make sure that your PSU is adequate for any add on video card that you may purchase, ask here if not sure.

CPU
AMD A4-6300: 71 °C
Richland 32nm Technology
RAM
2.00GB Single-Channel DDR3 @ 669MHz (9-9-9-24)
Motherboard
EMAXX TechnologiesInc EMX-A68FM2HD+ICAFE (P0): 116 °C
Graphics
1970W (1366x768@60Hz)
512MB ATI AMD Radeon HD 8370D (ATI): 17 °C

To summarise, your computer is below the spec required for the games you wish to play, the computer is overheating and the overheating is worsening once you put the computer under load.

NB: I also noted that you do not have any AV protection, bad idea as you are putting yourself at risk of malware attack, would suggest that you download a free AV such as MSE Or Avira.

Is my hardware really the problem? Its just weird that before i updated to sp1  i can play hearts of iron 4 on low/medium settings really smooth like no lag, Its weird because i can play Resident Evil HD remaster now no lag with a 800x600 resolution, its just really weird,  i deleted sp1 and still , another weird thing happened my HOi4 Graphics seems blurry after the sp1 updated ,

Installing SP1 will not have caused you any problems unless 1: your hardware was not compatible. 2: You did not have enough RAM. 3: You were low on free storage space on the C: drive/partition.

1 and 2 you have no such problems with but #3 you may have as you only have 25% free space available without SP1 installed meaning that the space will reduce once it is installed.

Not having SP1 and any AV protection installed is putting you at risk of malware attack and both should be sorted asap.

Have explained in my reply #10 what is going on and what needs to be done to put things right, other than suggesting that you check Can You Run It before trying to play a particular game there is not much else we can suggest I`m afraid, heat is crippling your computer  :(
