I have a Toshiba Satellite L755 running Windows 7. A couple weeks ago I had the computer shut down on me while using it, and on reboot I had the message "No bootable device - insert boot disk and press any key". I've tried searching through the forums but could not find a thread that could resolve my issue specifically. I've tried messing with the boot order but unsure if I'm doing it right - and even then I get the same result.

I should note an hour or so before this occurred i dropped my computer - about a foot from the surface of the desk as it was in my hands. Initially it didn't seem to do anything, then afterwards I got this. Don't know if the two are linked, but I'm concerned it could be.

Please advise? Thanks in advance for any assistance :)

I'm in the setup utility now but I can't find where to check HDD settings.

Next to the 1 where it list the HDD there should also be a description of make and model of hard drive. This would be similar to what is showing under 3 for the CD drive.

As indicated this could be the drive crashed from it being dropped or the drive unseated itself.

Can you remove the drive and check the connections and then reinsert it to see if it works?

Going by youtube videos, to gain access to the rest of the computer (to check for bad connections) I'd have to disassemble half the computer. Argh.

The issue shouldn't be any further in to the laptop. I suspect the drive crashed and is bad.

Recheck in the bios to see if it is recognized.

The same way you did in post 6 and then in post 10 where you showed us the screen shot.
