Hey all, I got a second PC though today when turned on it doesn't boot up. There's no response on the keyboard nor does anything display on the monitor it's hooked up to. Not sure what is causing it, I had thought it was the motherboard but I ruled it out due to the PC being able to power on.

Tried to clean the dust out of it but still nothing happens. The Internal HDD isn't making any clicking sounds so my guess it's something else. I hope I can get some assistance on this problem.

Hello Lucky Dearly,

I had thought it was the motherboard but I ruled it out due to the PC being able to power on.

It could still be the MB, blown caps or if using an onboard graphics chip that could be bad, both would allow the system to power up but would give you no display.

A bad HDD would not stop you getting a display, you would still be able to get into the BIOS and would normally get an onscreen boot failure message.

Please provide information about your computer, this includes is it a custom build or brand name such as Dell or HP, if a brand name, provide the model name or series number (not serial) if a custom build post the brand and model name or number for the MB, the RAM (including the amount) add on video card if one is used and the PSU (power supply unit) providing these details will enable us to better assist you.

The PC is a Dell.Studio XPS

I'll have to get a look at the MB name as soon as I can

There are a lot of different models of Dell XPS but if you tell us the exact model number we should be able to find the MB details for it, if not sure on the model number, can you tell us if you are using an add on video card and whether or not the MB has any integrated video ports.
