iDrive external drive with wife extender

I bought the iDrive external drive with wifi extender and it won't keep up the internet. I will log on to the internet with it, and it will work for a few moments and then all of a sudden it says no connection. I have to reboot my computer completely to get it to pick up the internet and then log back on with the iDrive. Definetly not what I thought I was getting.
