I recently upgraded my internet to the ! Gig Internet offered by Mediacom. It is supposed to be the fastest internet they offer. I was already Get their Ultra Fast (200mbps) and was real excited to get internet as fast as the 1 Gig promised to be.  I have ran speed test after speed test after speedtest and the fastest speed I EVER got was about 494 (upload speed) and that was only the first few times I tested. Now I can't even get up to the 200mbps speed that I WAS getting before upgrading. I am so mad right now. Mediacom is sending a technician out Monday. I feel like I have been completely conned! Can somebody please help me find out what is going on with my internet speeds???

Since it is Mediacom's equipment, Mediacom is the one you will need to contact for further assistance.

They are coming this morning but I have my doubts as to whether they resolve the issue. I was just wondering if there were some diagnostics that could be run on my computer to see if my computer was at fault. maybe a supervisor or somebody could tell me...

They should have equipment with them that'll let them know if your internet link back to your ISP is working correctly.

In the meantime, you could test using different computers, or internet-capable devices. You could also test with the same computer running a different OS from a LiveCD/USB.

Also keep in mind that ISP's usually advertise their speeds as "up to" such-and-such a speed ... and it is NOT guaranteed.

They told me that uploads are only 50 to 60 mb because they are only setup for 3 server where download is setup using 13 servers.
