Formatting a new SATA HDD

I've just got myself a 200GB SATA monster and a SATA controller card. Installed both and they have been detected fine by XP Pro. Both show up in Device Manager but I can't see the drive in Explorer.

How do I format the new drive so that there is a volume on it to see and use?

sorted... just had to go into Computer Management, Initialize the drive then could format it from there
