Mediacom came out yesterday and change the modem out, when he tested to see what my speed was he showed 900 down and 60 up then he left. when I hook my cable up to my desktop I am only showing 99 down and 49 up.  What could be going on?

Is Your Desktop's NIC (Network Interface Card) capable of 1,000 mbps (1 gbps) or only 100 mbps?

What about any other equipment, and cables, between your Desktop and their modem? Everything needs to be capable of 1,000 mbps. Yesteryear's equipment, and cables, could only go up to 100 mbps.
