First, format it using something other than Windows, then try formatting in Windows once again.

The storage space being shown as unallocated is how a new storage device shows up on first being powered up, this means that it is highly likely that the data will be inaccessible in any event, not being the end of the world this time is fine but what if you are able to use the device again and it does the same thing again but with data on it that you really cant afford to lose, what I am saying in a nutshell is that something caused this to happen but what, how much free storage space was on the device before this happened.

Ok i just googled how to test usb port...

To scan for hardware changes, follow these steps:
  1. Click Start, and then click Run. ...
  2. Type devmgmt.msc, and then click OK. ...
  3. In Device Manager, click your computer so that it is highlighted.
  4. Click Action, and then click Scan for hardware changes.
  5. Check the USB device to see whether it is working.

And i now find that the usb appears to work, files show up, and on Disk Management it is now showing up as E Healthy Partition Fat 32...

Strange as it worked ok for my WD Elements and other usbs...

I will format it and test it tho.

Thank you guys !!
