I've been dealing with quite a few BSOD's the past couple of days.  It all started with me noticing that after a certain amount of time on Destiny 2, I would immediately drop out of the Discord call and I wouldn't be able to browse online.  However, I was still connected to the internet and didn't DC from Destiny... just wasn't able to rejoin Discord or browse the web.

 

This evening I decided to clean up my computer, using compressed air to get the dust bunnies out and reinserting the ram back into place.  Once booted, my computer ran much slower than usual.  I followed some advice online, using AUTORUNS to disable a couple of errors I noticed on the Event Viewer (TSSFLT, VMnetAdapter).  Also used a workaround.vbs cause I noticed there was a WMI error as well.

 

Didn't really seem to help.  My computer still seems to be running much slower than before.  Discord takes an unusually longer time to load up.  Destiny 2 Crucible had stutters that were nonexistent yesterday (but it may also have to do with the recent update).  I haven't had a blue screen for a day, but my computer did freeze up... so I assume it was about to lol.

 

If anyone has any solution for this problem, it would be much appreciated.

wuauserv which is Windows Update.  Search for:

 

services.msc

and hit Enter then scroll down to Windows Update.  Right click on it and select Properties.  Stop the service.  Does the svchost CPU usage drop ?

If so then get :

Once that runs then if you don't already have them get

If Windows Update isn't the problem then try:

 

Right click on (My) Computer and select Manage (Continue) Then click on the arrow in front of Event Viewer. Next Click on the arrow in front of Windows Logs Right click on System and Clear Log, Clear. Repeat for Application.

Reboot.

Start, All Programs, Accessories then right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator.  Then type (with an Enter after each line).

sfc  /scannow

(This will check your critical system files. Does this finish without complaint?  IF it says it couldn't fix everything then:

Copy the next two lines:

findstr  /c:"[SR]"  \windows\logs\cbs\cbs.log  >  \junk.txt
notepad \windows\logs\cbs\junk.txt

Start, All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and Run as Administrator, Continue.  Right click and Paste or Edit then Paste and the copied line should appear.
Hit Enter. Copy and paste the text from notepad or if it is too big, just attach the file.)

and save it to your Desktop:
2. Right-click VEW.exe and Run AS Administrator
3. Under 'Select log to query', select:

* System
4. Under 'Select type to list', select:
* Error
* Warning


Then use the 'Number of events' as follows:


1. Click the radio button for 'Number of events'
Type 20 in the 1 to 20 box
Then click the Run button.
Notepad will open with the output log.


Please post the Output log in your next reply then repeat but select Application.  (Each time you run VEW it overwrites the log so copy the first one to a Reply or rename it before running it a second time.)

No, it's no longer as high as it was before.

Yes, it has dropped down to 0.01 - 0.05 cpu usage.

Tried to install the KB947821 windows update hotfix, but it continuously hangs during the installation.  "The following updates were not installed : HOTFIX FOR WINDOWS (KB947821).  When I tried to install the other two, it mentioned that they were already installed.

Make sure  these are checked before hitting Start:

Reset Registry Permissions
Reset File Permissions
Register System Files


Unhide Non System Files

Stated there were errors that were unable to be fixed.  My computer even froze at that point lol.  Will continue with the other instructions.

Am I just copying and pasting these lines into CMD?  The notepad pops up, but it's blank.  Am I to enter something else for the "[SR]"?

SFC when it works puts SR in CBS.log. the findstr just pulls the lines that start with SR and puts them in junk.text. you can not open cbs .log but you can copy it and open the copy. Sounds like SFC is not working. I think it needs bits and windows update services to work.

Was able to complete the All in One Windows Repair, however I was unable to find the option to "Unhide Non System Files".  

 

Was also able to install the previous Windows KB947821 that I couldnt install prior.  Went ahead and just uninstalled MSI Super Charger.  Looks like it's not really necessary.
