RKinner: Thanks. In fact, Shield does work on an XP.  I "solved" my attempt to download and install it on my friend's XP by calling AOL HELP. After signing her up for a trial subscription... Go to the full post »

I am trying to help an AOL user change from AOL's Desktop app to its replacement, Shield on her XP.
I downloaded Shield ok. BUt I don't knoW how I now INSTALL the download.

CAn someone please help me. ... batpark

Windows 7 (SP1 or higher), Windows 8, or Windows 10
Tablet and Mobile are not supported
An Intel Pentium 4 processor or later that's SSE2 capable
350 MB of free disk space
512 MB of RAM

I "solved" my attempt to download and install it on my friend's XP by calling AOL HELP. After signing her up for a trial subscription of AOL's service plan, the AOL tech took over the job and completed it.  FWIW, the Shield display of incoming emails is vastly improved over the previous version.  ..... batpark
