Just got the r7000, I want to change out the old one but we dont have a desk top. I do have a laptop. That's connected to the wireless router now. When I disconnect the old one and hook up the new in. wouldn't I lose connection to the internet? What do I do how do I do it. Please help. anything to get me threw it

Yes, sooner or later you will have to lose your connection if you set up the new router and switch over from the old.

Try setting up the new router and see if your laptop finds the connection in your list of available connections. If so you should be able to disconnect the old and connect to the new.

I am pretty sure your new router came with the owners manual, otherwise see here.
