Hi all, it recently came to my attention that my current modem is not making use of my ISP's 100Mbps since I'm currently on an ARRIS TM502G. I am planning on upgrading my modem to maybe a ARRIS SURFboard SB6141 DOCSIS 3.0 unless you guys have any suggestions.

For my router, I am currently using a Linksys WRT610N V1. I am wondering if my router is slowing down my speeds at all or would I need to upgrade that as well. Sorry for not being incredibly tech savvy, thank you for the responses!

If you are going to stay with the 100mbps plan then upgrading your modem to SB6140 or better will give you needed hardware. The router you have should be more then sufficient unless you are having issues.

Yes I'm planning on staying with the 100mbps. My main concern was if the router was a limiting factor, thanks for your response!

Yes, the new modem will make a difference.  Your old modem is Docis 2.0 compatible.  The new is Docis 3.0.  The new modem has 8 lanes of traffic down and 4 lanes up.  It's like going from a 2 lane country road to a brand new interstate highway.  You may even get a speed boost at no extra charge after you switch.

I had the same problem recently- I've upgraded my connection speed, but real speed didn't change at all, so I've bought-TP-LINK Archer C7 AC1750 Dual Band and this is the result:http://www.netmeter....1802263823-00b1
