I used this site a few years ago but haven't been back since 2012, I think.  I know there is more I should be including in my post but the malware removal instructions don't seem to include Mac operating systems, so I'm not sure what kind of report to run.  Please let me know.

I recently took this macbook to a local tech guy who claims to be the only one in the county who works on Macs, but the problem persists.  My system is running slowly despite NOT having downloaded the recent OS update (which Apple has admitted will slow down old devices).  I am also having a lot of browser difficulties.  Some websites spontaneously redirect, including google.  I cannot use google to search right now.  It goes to yahoo.  I am also getting notifications that I need a system scan, even though I have not downloaded any antivirus software.  The aforementioned tech guy downloaded "malwarebytes"

Please advise as to additional information needed.

I should have included that there seem to be files I don't recognize that I cannot open, or if I can its just pages of gibberish, in my photos.  I am the only person who uses this computer.
