I am running windows 10.  I updated iTunes and once I rebooted after the update my keyboard stopped working.  I bought a new wireless keyboard with dongle as my previous one was and it still does not work or show up in device manager.  Tried to delete the low filter item in the keyboard registry but did not help.  Mouse works fine and using on-screen keyboard to type this.

Screenshot of device manager is attached

Thanks in advance for any help.

Did you also recently install any updates for Windows 10? Probably the easiest method for you without a keyboard is as follows:

Download and Run
http://filehippo.com/download_speccy
1. File > Save Snapshot. This will create a file called [hostname].speccy
2. File > Publish Snapshot. This saves your snapshot to their servers
3 Copy and Paste the link to your next Reply

Is your keyboard USB or PS/2. Is it the logitech that is showing the failed driver shown below or ? Does your mouse still work? Have you tried restoring to an earlier restore point before this happened.

If I understand correctly this is a new Logitech keyboard and it worked until this morning? Did you download the drivers from Logitech or just use Windows? If Windows, have you tried installing the latest drivers from Logitech? If not, please do and if you need help please provide the model number.

actually i had the original hp keyboard using a usb dongle that was working until this morning until i rebooted after itune update.  i tried an old wired usb keyboard which did not work.  one thing to note is both those keyboards worked during the boot process.  i was able to press the escape key to get me to the boot menu.  After windows starts it stops working.  It must have something to do with the keyboard not showing in device manager.  I installed the new logitech KB after trying multiple times to download drivers for the other 2 keyboard s.  I tried to install logitech drivers after hooking up that keyboard but it kept failing

Okay, I understand more. One more question. Is the working mouse connected to USB port as well? If so, have you tried connecting the keyboard to the same port? Are you sure the only thing that changed was itunes? I have a feeling thst Windows update may have caused the issues. If it worked last night then restoring to your previous backup should make it work again? Have you tried restoring to the last or earlier backup or restor point to see if they will work?

There is a known issue that windows update KB4074588 is causing issue with mouse, keyboard and USB ports not working. Please try the following steps.

Windows Key + R

appwiz.cpl

View installed updates

Look for update KB4074588 (OS Build 16299.248)

Right Click it. Uninstall it.

Reboot and test.

If it works we need to disable or defer your updates

WaqasRahman100193,

Please do not post inside another members topic, your computer issue/s may appear to be the same but be completely different + your request for assistance may be overlooked as staff and members will check a topic that has yet to receive a reply but they may not if it appears that assistance has already been offered to the OP.

Start your own thread and someone will get back to you there.
