Sounds like a plan, you can always reinstall Windows again in the future, be sure to make sure that you have the Windows product key written down and kept somewhere safe and if not done already create a reinstall disk.

 

NB: If things are the same in Linux it looks like a hardware repair will be needed so dig out any warranty just in case.

Thanks Phil... But this really feels like a settings issue. Somehow Chris pushed a key or combination of keys that turned off her keyboard and touchpad. Anyway it will be interesting to see if the functions return using the stick with PoP OS. If that works, then I'll just dump Windows. Which will be a pleasure.

We get world soccer here on the TV from time to time. The Americans don't think much to it but they are a narrow-minded bunch and I try not to mingle with them. Too bloody opinionated for my liking. They deserve Trump! :-)

Hey you "wingless wonder"

Just wanted to let you know that I got the keyboard and touch pad function back. Reset the computer by taking the back off and disconnecting the battery and the BIOS battery. Drained the last of the power out of the capacitors by holding the power button down for 20 seconds. Then let it sit for an hour or two until completely dead. Reassembled, plugged in and it booted up fine with full function.

Great news and thanks for posting the solution so that it may help others 

 

Not sure how it could have happened but as mentioned in my reply #6 it appears that the keyboard may have become disabled in the BIOS somehow, another one of life`s mysteries
