What makes a printer an "All in One" printer?

Hi chally,

Not only does an "All in One" (sometimes called an AIO) print, but it can also scan, and act as photocopier, and some have a fax facility built in, but this (fax facility) is becoming rarer these days.

The "all in one" can usually act as a photocopier even when the computer is switched off or disconnected, and it certainly saves on desk space having everything included in the one printer sized unit, rather than having separate units for the various functions

Regards

Even though an  all in one is great and conserves desk space, they are a PITA when one portion fails. I switched to a AIO 3 years ago. Last week the black/yellow print head clogged. It needs to be replaced. It is a cost I am trying to decide what to do with. Till I decide I took my old 15 year printer and scanner out of storage.
