Have a DELL Inspiron. 15  Running Windows 10 Home version.

A few  days ago my laptop updated and asked for my password, not my pin that I used daily. Somehow forgotten the password and have been locked out of my computer.

When I logged into my boyfriend's settings, after 30 secs, I receive "Windows couldn't connect to the ProfSvc service. Please consult your system administrator"

Oddly, It's also not connecting to the internet. I'm out of town for work and I do not have a manual or any of the cd-roms.

Can I factory reset this?

Help!

The following only in answer to the above and in no way intended to help with bypassing any password or other system security.

Did the computer originally ship with Windows 10 or has it been upgraded to from Windows 7 or 8/8.1.

Dell info here

Hello DetroitChic,

That should help.

Did you check the Dell info here if there is data on the drive that you wish to keep try the Refresh option first which reinstalls Windows 10 but keeps your personal files.
