GPU test will have to wait till Saturday or Sunday. It was too late last night and tonight I have a few things I need to get done. Ran it for 30 minutes, GPU got up to 88C, but no errors at that point. I'm starting to think something got borked with my windows install and I'll have to format.

One thing you can try before performing a complete clean is a repair install. The difference is that it will not remove anyth8ng from your computer such as programs, files , etc.

I will have to do that. I need to get a new USB stick and then I'll try it out. Hopefully that works and I don't have to nuke n restart... If it doesn't... I'm likely getting an additional SSD and more Ram anyways.

You run the repair install from within windows so there is no need for usb stick unless you are using for a backup or something. Let me know if any questions.

Tried McCafee, it can't find anything. Looking at my task manager I'm at 100% RAM usage all the time, and the amount showing in use isn't matching the 8GB I have. So I think it's time to nuke it from orbit and just do a full reformat/re-install. Anyone have suggestions for good utilities to backup my photos and steam game-saves? Everything else is covered by carbonite and G Drive so I'll do a restore of documents that way...

If you are ready to perform a clean install see the follow guide below.

Thank you very much for that. Question, if I do a clean install think I need to clear out my D: drive as well as the C: that windows is on. D: is my bulk storage for games/music and crap.

It is your preference weather to clean out your d: drive. If only used for data, etc then it should not make much difference.

Should not be an issue then. Did you perform the clean install yet and if so how is it working?
