HP Wireless printer issue

My HP Deskjet 2540 (wireless) All-in-One printer has stopped working. Now, when I send a document to Print I see a flash-by screen that says "Sending page 1 of 1." but nothing actually prints nor do I hear any response at the printer.

Can someone please confirm what the two small ink indicators below the small printer display screen mean? Is the left indicator for the colored cartridge and the right indicator for the BLACK cartridge?

FWIW, I have been using the printer with just one (BLACK HP61) cartridge. Right now both indicators are blinking. But the black cartridge is, I think, almost full.

Can someone please send me a suggested routine for diagnosing the problem? Thank you. .... batpark
