It's been a while I'm having this problem. When I shut down my laptop, the screen goes black but the processor does not stop working.

I need to press and hold laptop power button for 5-6 sec to it shuts down.

I don't know what is the cause of it, any solution is appreciated.

Type command to start searching
Right click on command prompt in list and select Run Administrator
Copy and Paste the command below into the command prompt and press Enter key

powercfg - h off

It's saying " Invalid parameters -- try "/?", and when I am replacing "-" with "/" it is doing nothing. What should i do?

Funnily enough, I have been having exactly the same problem recently, with exactly the same result when I tried keying in powercfg - h off

 

Try keying in powercfg -hibernate off instead.

Either way should work. Make sure there is no space before the -h. Let me know if you still have issues.

 

powercfg -h off

 

powercfg /h off
