Yes, I would do it after the copying has finished to avoid any risk.

Okay provide the report once you run chkdsk command again.

Now the data is copied back.

 

At the moment all seems to be well with that drive (besides of safely removing it, that mostly or always does not, with other drives also), so may be there is no need for a report anymore.

Okay that is your choice, however it is simple test for peace of mind of the drive condition.

Oops, sounds like it would take very long, it's 8 TB.

 

Can I use the drive while it is scanned / the report will be made?

Yes, that drive will take a while to test. No you will not be able to use while testing this is why I recommend starting in the evening and run all night.
