For the past month my computer has not been able to open or run any .exe (executable file).I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1,Intel Core @ 3.10GHz with 4.00GB RAM.
I have tried every known solution that's been discussed and shared on most Internet technical sites and forums on the Windows platform, but till date, nothing has worked. I have used the Malwarebytes anti-malware but only in Safe mode and it didn't find any thing at all.I am only able to  run exe files in Safe mode and it works the way it should.I have not been able to run or open any executable in Windows Normal
mode. And when ever I try it comes up with this error message,"A required privilege is not held by the client" and now recently, I cannot even run or open the Firefox browser and my email platform Thunderbird with this error message,"Can't Open This Item.It might have been moved, renamed or deleted.Do you want to remove this item? Like I said I have tried most of the options and "solutions" shared on other windows technical websites but to no avail. This is driving me absolutely bonkers and I have to open and run some software that is related to my job and it is very cumbersome being able to only use it in Safe Mode without audio.I am beginning to realize that I have no choice but to re-image my Windows installation. Please, please help!?

Recommend reading through Geeks-to-Go Malware and Spyware Cleaning Guide instructions first. Then start a new topic in their Virus Spyware, and Malware removal forum.

Something for you to do/try before posting on the Malware forums;

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s.

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

  1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
  2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
  3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

Download then run the Windows All in One Repair tool from here, disregard the malware guidance but follow the other steps to the letter and in particular ensuring that you first create a new restore point and perform a proper Windows clean boot before running the repair, details for the clean boot here.

Edit to add: I see that you have already post on the Malware Removal Forums, while waiting on any reply there, please only provide the requested Speccy url for us here, if you get a reply over on malware before posting the Speccy url here for us please disregard and only follow the malware helpers instructions.

I also recommend enabling the the built-in Administrator account as follows. Then log in to this account and test and let us know if the problem continues or not.

1. Click on Start menu
2. Type in command
3. Right click on Command Prompt in list and select Run as Administrator
4. Copy and Paste the following command into the command console and hit Enter

net user administrator /active:yes

Sign out of current account and Sign in to the Administrator account

Thank you so much for your replies philpower2 and dmccoy! My most profound apologies for not having responded earlier but the specialist at Malware Removal Forums had already replied when I first saw your replies, and so keeping in line with the site's protocol,I decided to fully follow RKinner's instructions first.
Begging your pardon for that.

@philpower2. I have downloaded the Speccy program you recommended.Do you still wish for me to publish the Snapshot and URL? I have also downloaded the Windows All in One Repair tool. Most interesting indeed! I shall learn more about it's workings.

@dmccoy. Thank you very much. The specialist at the Malware Removal Forums also asked me to try something akin to your Command Prompt command lines. When I tried it then and having rebooted into Windows Regular mode,it did not work to clear my PC's issues at that time.

Btw,RKinner has managed to solve my Computer's issues eventually. Now I can finally open .exe executable files and my email client Thunderbird and Firefox browser work! ( http://www.geekstogo...ws-normal-mode/ )

Many thanks to all involved!
