When I searched, it said I have 6 topics or posts, but only 5 showed. This was before this post which would make 7.  I tried to explain why and show that I have a genuine Windows disk, but get 'not genuine; window and asked for help, if there was a way to rollback with the disk without wiping out all my programs. The initial post was related to the criminal who sent me an email saying that he sent me mail using my address and had my contact list and threatened to send disgusting content to all my contacts unless I paid hundreds of dollars to a bitcoin account, before a time limit expired.

So after that post, which seems to have disappeared, though counted in the my totals, now my password doesn't work and I can't even boot to window on that machine. So it looks like I will have to use the Windows disk to reset everything, my greatest dread an set me back a week or more in trying to reinstall programs that have been updated multiple times. What a nightmare.

No it was a later post, this week. And I responded to the same question, in it, and now no longer have access to that computer.

Tried my Win7 disk to repair, but only offered choice of recovery to factory installation, thus losing all installed programs.

All you need to do is to re-image your computer using an up to date image made when your machine was working well. It will take around an hour or so and you will not lose any programs that were on the machine when the image was made.

Win 7 has native system imaging tools, but a lot of folks prefer Macrium Reflect Free, or Acronis,  or Symantec (Ex Ghost etc...There are lots of other excellent system imaging applications available for both Win 7 and win 10)

Taking good system Images and verifying them, sure beats reinstalling your operating system, doing all the updates and then  reinstalling all your applications from your back up copies of the installation executables or original discs. Doing it that way can take all day, sometimes even longer!

A very senior member of this forum has informed me that you have opened another account here in the name of Robirdman1, and as you know that is in breach of this sites Terms of Use as each forum member may only have one account here.

see below:

http://www.geekstogo...tion=boardrules

It appears that you are asking questions using one account and then also responding using the other account.

This is not the correct way to use our forums.

If you fail to respond to a helpers questions in response to your topics then it's quite possible that they may prefer  not to continue with you and concentrate on members  who are taking care to use the forums correctly.

To sum up,

  • Please don't use two different accounts here, stick with just the one
  • Provide as good an answer as you can to a helper's questions
  • Keep all responses in the correct topics

Thanks,

Regards

If this is the case, sorry, it must be because, no one was responding to my posts, in particular the administrators who I asked for help multiple times as to why I never receive email notices (as in all other formus) when someone replies to my post.  I have still never had the courtesy of an admin looking at my profile settings, as described and telling me why I never receive such notices.  No I didn't know that rule either, just a desperate attempt to get find why no one can help with this, after years of trying.  I guess the other account can be deleted and I'll have to accept that the notice question will never be answered nor resolved.
