So I have a Dell Optiplex 745

with a Dell Inc. 06M819 motheboard

speccy:Attached File  speccydell1.txt   69.56KB   334 downloads

I want to upgrade the E2200 Pentium to a Core 2 Duo E8500, or a Pentium E5300, because I currently only have these processors available.

I am aware that these processors have different litography and different bus speeds.

Question is would the computer boot if I would insert the Core 2 Duo E8500 because they both are the same socket LGA775?

Here are the supported CPU's for a 06M819 motherboard

Intel Core 2 Quad: Q6700, Q6600

- Intel Celeron Processors: 440, 430

- Intel Core 2 Duo (Dual Core) Processors: E6850, E6750, E6550, E4600, E4500, E4400, E2180, E2160, E2140

You would ask: why would you ask this question if you already know they arent supported?

Answer is pretty self explanatory: I currently have a CPU installed that isnt in the list (E2200), so I am doubting that this list is accurate

Intel cpu site comparison against all 3 CPU's I own.

I am comfortable with opening a PC case, because I have been asked if I am.
