Hello.

I lost a file and used  icare, a recovery program. I have recovered some files in a .tmp folder, although I do not know if the file I need is in there.

I used notepad to open that file, but it is composed of un-readable, illegible characters.

Any advice will be much appreciated.

Thank you.

When viewing a .docx file in Notepad, the very first two characters would be PK, followed by mostly gobbledygook.

As provided by SpywareDr it seems the file cannot be read. Thank you.

Sorry to hear that. This is one of the very reasons regular backups are so important. Macrium Reflect Free

Thanky you, SpywareDr. Actually, I had the same issue. And, with your linked wiki link, I easily found solution to sort that better!
