I was given Amazon Firestick 4k as a gift; it comes with an Alexa voice remote. We do not have Alexa installed in our home or on my phone... can I still install and use the firestick using my regular remote or do I need a different version. I have read through all of the included paperwork and it offers no help.

Remotes for 1st and 2nd generation Fire TV are different, they most likely won't work with the newer generations of Fire TV.    Alexa is built into the Fire TV, no need to have any other devices for it to work.

There are two types of fire stick. One fire stick operates in the older version of amazon and the other runs as the latest version. So the latest version fire stick will work with alexa.
