I tried to navigate to that folder, but when I click the plus sign next to Owner, there is no local settings folder to continue to.

Ok, it's hidden.

Go up to "Tools > Folder Options" click the "View" tab then click "Show Hidden Files and Folders". Click Apply, click OK. You should be able to see the Temp folder then.

Also, we're going to try a different online scan. This one you CAN use FireFox!

Go here:
http://uk.trendmicro...call_launch.php

Click "Check my PC now".
On the next screen it will check your system for compatibility - let me know if any of those things have a red 'X' next to them! If they are all green, then read the agreement and check if you agree with it, then click "continue with next step" and follow the rest of the instructions. If it gives you an option for "Auto-Clean" make sure to put a check next to it.

Post the results from the scan.

Ok, I ran the scan, and my results were:

Congratulations, Clean system!

Now how do I "post the results from the scan"?

If it says it's clean, then there is no reason to post the results :tazz:

Did you delete the files out of the Temp folder per my previous instructions?

Also, I need you to open Ewido. Click on the "Update" button, then click "Start Update".

Once it's updated, reboot into Safe Mode (you must be in Safe Mode!) and run a full system scan with Ewido.

If there is actually a file there that Ewido is warning about it will be able to find it and clean it in Safe Mode.

Save the results from Ewido.

Reboot into normal mode and post the results from Ewido the same way you did some days ago ;)

well, i got home, and read your post...the only problem is that Ewido "automatic protection" has expired....and also, last time I closed Ewido, my desktop and all the other stuff I got from the start came back, and I had to get it all off all over again. and yes, I showed the hidden files, deleted EVERYTHING in the temp folder, and its still coming up saying that a file is infected....I'm completely lost now...

Ewido automatic protection expired, but you can still update it and run it. It needs to be updated in normal mode, then run in Safe Mode and I need to see the log. I also need a new HiJackThis log.

If you deleted all files out of the Temp folder, then there is NOTHING there and I can't tell you why it's still "finding" a files that isn't there.

Also I need you to do this:

Using Windows Explorer, delete the following, in bold, if found:

C:\Documents and Settings\user account\Start Menu\Programs\SpySheriff <-whole folder
C:\Documents and Settings\user account\Application Data\Install.dat

*NOTE* user account is not the actual name of that folder. The name of that folder will be the name of your computer profile.

Let me know if you found either of those files.

Will you post a new HiJackThis log from normal mode, please. I can't see everything since it was run in Safe Mode.

Ewido only found 2 tracking cookies which is great.

This is the FINAL scan! If you actually have a file hiding out in Temp and for some reason you just can't see it, this scan will find it! :tazz:

MWav eScan

Download it, double-click mwav.exe, then unzip it to the pre-determined directory. On the main page, leave everything checked and put a check next to "drive", then click "scan clean". While the scan is in progress, there will be a window at the bottom listing infected items. When it's done, please highlight the items in that window, then press CTRL+C to copy it then paste it here. The whole log will be way too big, I just need to see the infected items that are in that window.

And, btw, from what I can see your HiJackThis log looks fine! But, I'll need you to post a new one after running this scan.
