Using an iPhone, I often search the NY Times for current articles that contain the word "Stockholm".

 

• I call up the NY Times by clicking the NYTimes icon on the home screen.

• I click the search icon on the Times page that is displayed.

• I enter the search term "Stockholm".

• A listing of articles, if any, in that day's paper containing the term "Stockholm" is displayed.

 

How can I create a macro that will do those steps with a single click?

Do I surmise correctly that you hand-crafted a macro for my Windows 10 pc that locates articles in the NY Times containing the word Stockholm? Wow! I got such a listing of articles when I clicked on the URL you sent me.

 

I had hoped to learn how to create such a macro but it seems you did the whole job for me; many thanks.

 

How can I see what's in https://www.nytimes....lm&sort=newest?

 

And can I change the target word-- from Stockholm to something else. Can you please tell me how to do that? Or can I send you (privately) the new target word and ask you to modify that macro for me?

 

Finally, delighted as I am to have this new macro for my pc, my original post asked whether I could create such a search macro for my <iPhone>. Can that too be done?

There is no hidden "magic" in the URL:

https://www.nytimes.com/search?query=Stockholm&sort=newest?

That is it. Simply a request sent from your browser to the NYTimes server, telling it what page you want to see.

 

 

Yes, you can change the word "Stockholm" in that URL to whatever you like. Copy and paste the URL into something like Notepad, then alter the word "Stockholm". Now copy and paste that new URL into your browser's address line and press [Enter].

 

If an iPhone allows you to type in an address to go to, like say "http://www.google.com" (sans the quotes), then yes, you can type in the NYTimes URL above exactly the same way.

I found a way to add a link to the Iphone home page. I did this on my Iphone for a link to my Troop web site.
