I'm not sure what to do. I have been struggling to get my laptop to work. If I use anything on my laptop, it will lock up in a matter of minutes. So it's hard for me to download anything due to my laptop locking up. I really need some help and was wondering what I could do? I have tried to reset it but I get the message that a problem has occurred and it can not be reset. I tried running it on safe mode and no changes.  I even tried deleting some of my files and freeing up space. Right now i can't even connect to the internet. Help please.

I have a HP Laptop running Windows 10.

Hello chosen072,

Some questions if I may;

What is the full model name or number of the HP notebook.

Was Windows 10 the original OS on the notebook or was it upgraded for free from Windows 7 or 8/8.1.

How much free storage space was/is on the hard drive.

What anti virus software do you have on the computer.

Is your internet connection via the notebooks wireless device or hardwired using an ethernet cable and port on the notebook.

For us to best be able to help you we need you to answer our questions as best you can.

Can I also ask that you do not post any logs generated by malware removal tools as they are only allowed to be used over on those forums.

The amount of free storage space is the cause of the issue and if not done already Windows will become corrupt.

Drive C: | 907.86 Gb Total Space | 13.73 Gb Free Space | 1.51% Space Free | Partition Type: NTFS

For Windows to be able to run efficiently and to be able to update you need to have between 20 and 25% of the partition or drive available as free storage space at all times, if you don`t you risk Windows becoming corrupt or not being able to update which puts you at risk of malware attack.

Data only storage devices should not be allowed to get any lower than 10% of free storage space of the full capacity of the drive/partition on the drive.

Uninstall as many unused programs, games, videos and music files as you can and get yourself another means of backing up to, post back when you have between 20 and 25% free storage on the C: drive/partition and we can go from there.

You will need to free up between 180 and 225GB of free space on the present hard drive.

Will do. Sorry I was unable to use my laptop due to it freezing but it's allowing me on today. I will start removing programs. My other question is, I dj online and I place my songs on my onedrive. The one drive is located on my c drive. Is my one drive also taking up space?

Anything that you can see in File Explorer is on your hard drive and therefore taking up storage space.

Not heard back from you chosen072, do you still require assistance or is the issue now resolved, an update would be appreciated.
