Hi,

Download the attached fix.reg file and save it to your Desktop.

Attached File  fix.reg   150bytes   189 downloads

Double-click on it. When asked whether to merge the information into the registry, click Yes.

You should receive a dialog box confirming the information was successfully added. Restart the computer.

Shut down the computer. When it's shutting down, you will see information about what is being shut down - for example, "Shutting down Group Policy service."

Let me know what application is taking a long time to shut down.

Thanks.

Hi,

We'll investigate the network issue.

----------------

Download MiniToolBox and save it to your desktop.
Right-click on it and select Run as Administrator

Check the following boxes:

Report IE Proxy Settings
Report FF Proxy Settings
List content of Hosts
List IP configuration
List Winsock Entries
List last 10 Event Viewer logs
List Installed Programs
List Devices (don't change any settings here)
List Users, Partitions, and Memory size
List Restore Points

Click Go
Once the scan is complete, a log file will open in Notepad. Please copy and paste the contents of the file to your next reply.

------------

Does the problem occur on all computers connected to the network, or just this one?

Thanks.

im pretty much the only one whos on the network.  so im unsure. everyones iphones and my ipod doesnt seem to have any issues. just a heads up this computer is hardwired into my router which is bridged for internet to another router. (same house just opposite sides, bridge via 5ghz band, never had a problem with connection since 1st sat up almost a year ago) (also i do use a vpn at times.)

i also seem to be having usb port issues now. software related that is. i can plus something in and it turns on but the computer doesnt always see it right away. or itll see it in device mgr but nowhere else.

Hi,

Thanks for the MiniToolBox log.

Highlight the contents of the below code box and press Ctrl + C:
Start::

cmd: ipconfig /flushdns
cmd: IPCONFIG /release
cmd: IPCONFIG /renew
cmd: netsh advfirewall reset
cmd: netsh advfirewall set allprofiles state ON
cmd: netsh winsock reset catalog
cmd: netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt
cmd: netsh int ipv4 reset
cmd: netsh int ipv6 reset
cmd: bitsadmin /reset /allusers
Reboot:

End::
Right-click on FRST/FRST64 and select Run as Administrator.
Click on Fix.
Note - there is no need to paste the contents of the code box anywhere.
If your computer restarts, allow it to do so.
Once the fix is complete, a file called fixlog will be saved to the same directory as FRST. The log may open in Notepad as well.
Please copy and paste the contents of the fixlog into your next reply.

Let me know if the problems with the slow connection persist.

Thanks.

Hi,

Click on the Start button > Control Panel.

When the Control Panel opens, go to Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center > Change adapter settings.

Right-click your Internet connection and select Properties.

Click on the Networking tab. In the This connection uses the following items box, click Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) then select Properties.

Make sure the button for "Use the following DNS server addresses" is checked. Then enter the following into both the DNS server boxes:

Preferred DNS server: 8.8.8.8
Alternate DNS server: 8.8.4.4

Click OK. Restart any open browsers, then try to open a website using your preferred browser.

Let me know if the problem persists.

Thanks.

Hi,

Yes, 8.8.8.8/8.8.4.4 is the Google Public DNS.

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks.

As per forum policy, support via TeamViewer and other remote support software is not allowed.
However, you can post in the Windows Vista/7 subforum regarding your question about services/drivers.
