Chromebook is incorrectly identifying time zone from "Use your IP Address to determine location"  Location is Eastern Standard, however Chromebook identifies it as Central.  Also tried using "Use Wi-Fi (or mobile networks) to identify location"  Same problem

Support.google.com > Chromebook Help

To change your date and time preferences:

  • Sign in to your Chromebook.

  • At the bottom right, select the time.

  • Select Settings Settings.

  • Scroll down and select Advanced.

  • In the "Date and time" section:[list]

  • To manually choose your time zone, select "Time zone" > "Choose from list" > Down arrow" and select your timezone.

Thanks, I was aware of that option.  Just wondering why all of a sudden Chromebook was identifying the wrong time zone when using either IP Address or WiFi location.  Is it a problem with my Chromebook (and if so, how do I fix it), a problem with the latest Chrome(book) update, or is it a problem with the Chrome browser?

I suppose that if you are with a large ISP (Internet Service Provider) company that covers wide swaths of a continent, it would almost be impossible to pinpoint exactly where one of its gadzillions of IP addresses might be being used at the moment?

Looks like the problem may have been fixed with the last Chrome update.  Time zone is now correct when using IP Address.  Previously reported Time Zone was Central instead of Eastern.  Anyone else notice the difference?

Any idea if this was part of the last Chrome update?

The last fix was for Chrome’s FileReader, a web API that let sites read a user’s computer files.
