1. Please run the Housecall online virus scan located at:
http://housecall.tre.../start_corp.asp

Follow the prompts to scan your hard drive for viruses. Select the "Autoclean" option so that Housecall will remove any viruses from your system.
When the scan is finished, please restart your computer.

2. Then please run the Panda scan here:
http://www.pandasoft...n_principal.htm

Choose to "Disinfect automatically," and follow the prompts. Delete any viruses found, and restart your computer.

3. Finally, please run the WindowSecurity trojan scan here:
http://www.windowsec...com/trojanscan/

Remove any trojans found, and restart your computer

4. Take note of any items that these scans say that are not able to remove and post then with a fresh HJT log

Well I did everything you said again.... here are the results:

The only viruses that could not be delted were from housecall and they are: Possible Virus located in documents + settings\owner\protect.exe and
PE BUBE.A cannot access in c:windows\explorer.exe

1. Please download Winhelp2002's Deldomains.inf to your desktop.

Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select Install

Once it is finished your Zones should be reset.

Note, if you use SpywareBlaster and/or IE/Spyads, it will be necessary to re-install the protection both afford. For SpywareBlaster, run the program and re-protect all items. For IE/Spyads, run the batch file and reinstall the protection.
Right-click on the deldomains.inf file and select Install

2. Please download Fix_Protocol_zones_ranges.reg by Nellie from MWR

A. Open the zip file and extract the regfile to your desktop.

B. Double click Fix_Protocol_zones_ranges.reg and allow it to merge with the registry.

C. REBOOT your system.

D. Finally, run HijackThis and with all windows closed except for HJT, click SCAN, produce a LOG and POST it in this thread for review.

Note: There is still a lot of work to be done

I guess that we have to go after the BUBE virus now as it seems to be stopping all other fixes from working:

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order in which they are mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes.

Now for the difficult part. Your system is suffering from the Bube virus which is often very difficult to remove. Before we start, make sure that you backup all your important data in case we run into major trouble.

The following link will provide you with all the information concerning the virus/trojan itself as well as the best description around as far as how to use the programs. CalamityJane's Treatment

I would advise you to print the article out so as to have it at your fingertips. Follow the instructions to the letter. When they mean SAFE MODE do it.
When they say DISCONNECT FROM THE INTERNET do it.

When you are all finished your chores, return to this thread and post a fresh HJT log. We will start cleaning up the remnants.

I downloaded the KAV Personal 5.0 like it said...... however my computer will not let me update the virus database so it will not run...
