I have Windows automatic updates turned off on a Win 7 computer. Do not want Microsoft forcing Win 10 on me like they did with Win 10 pop-up. Had to run Microsoft Update. Completely different problem, no sound thru HDMI. When it finished updating, an error message showed Windows 10 failed to install. How do I find that update and hide it?

Not sure what is going on there as the free upgrade to Windows 10 has long been stopped being promoted by Microsoft.

 

Download then run Speccy (free) and post the resultant url for us, details here, this will provide us with information about your computer hardware + any software that you have installed that may explain the present issue/s. 

 

To publish a Speccy profile to the Web:

1. In Speccy, click File, and then click Publish Snapshot.
2. In the Publish Snapshot dialog box, click Yes to enable Speccy to proceed.
3. Speccy publishes the profile and displays a second Publish Snapshot. You can open the URL in your default browser, copy it to the clipboard, or close the dialog box.

No evidence showing of Windows 10 having trying to be foisted on you so it it perhaps the original Windows 10 upgrade pre installer update that Microsoft released a few years back, there are a couple of suggested ways that you can try and address this, see info at the link here

 

Be sure to create a new restore point before making any changes to Windows or your settings and as is always recommended back up all important data first.

Didn't know what Microsoft had unrolled.I saw nothing in the installed updates. Read up on them before downloading.
