Yesterday I purchased a Bluetooth USB adapter(Startech.com USB to Bluetooth 4.0 Adapter-10m Class2) and followed the instructions to install driver etc.  However when I tried to use a pair of wireless earbuds(Skullcandy JIB Wireless: product code: MRJW1474065) the sound from my music file on PC resonates from    the PC speakers, not from earbuds even though  the speaker icon in the taskbar has an "x" on indicating that the pc speakers  are muted.  When I fo to device manager  Bluetooth appears as being connected .  If I then go to Control Panel>Sounds and select "Headset" or "Earphones" it doesn't solve the problem. For some reason, the pc speakers are not being bypassed and going to the earbuds.  I have done the installation twice already.

@waynf,

Which PC are you using, what is the OS.

When you connect the Headset to the Bluetooth Device do you see the headphone in you Sout Output devices.

I would suggest you connect the Headphones then play the song and while its playing , go to the sound options (click on start and then type Sound) in the playback tab check if you can see bluetooth speaks or headphones mentioned with a green check mark if its there , make it the default device and you should be able to hear the sound from your headphones.

Let us know what is the result.

Regards

UPDATE: I managed to get the wireless heaset to pair with Windows 7 pc and on  Sound page The wireless headset appears but know checkmark.  I latrer managed to get the system to work, but it is spasdmodick and not fullproof.  Now today I cannot  change my selection from PC Speakers which are default to Bluetooth headset.  When I try to ress "connect" I lose the connection and pairing on the headset.

By the way, could this be a Rundll32 problem or symptom of it?
