Is there any way to recover some of the files before reformatting and starting over?

XP Home Addition: System boots to a blue screen REGISTRY_ERROR
Technical Info *** Stop: 0X00000051 (0X00000003, 0x00000003, 0X00000000, 0XE10f8000).

This happens on regular boot, safe mode, booting from CD, repair, recovery console

Thanks
