According to Google:

Transfer Photos from iPhone to PC
  1. Plug your iPhone into your computer with the USB cable.
  2. The Photos app should automatically launch. If it doesn't, launch the program using the Windows Start menu or search bar.
  3. Click the Import icon in the upper right corner of the Photos app.

Would some kind GtGer please expand on that for a novice?

a. That "USB cable": is it one with a Lightning connector on one end and a normal USB connector on the other?

b. Will the PC "see the iPhone" as just another drive, like an E-drive external memory.

c. That "Photos app": Where do I get it from? What is its name?

Thanks. .... Batpark

A.  Just use the cable that charges the iphone.  The other end of it unplugs from the wall power supply and should fit in a Windows.

B.  If you don't have itunes installed it will show up under This PC as

iphone: batpark (or whatever name you told it to use)  You will need to unlock the phone then tell it that you trust this PC before you can drill down and get to the DCIM folder where the photos are stored  (in several different folders.

C.  The photo app is installed on Win 10 by default and by default it will be used if you doubleclick on a photo.  If you have something else installed to work with pictures ( Picasa, photoshop etc ) then that program will open instead.

However a simpler method is to go to icloud.com on your PC.  Normally iphones share all pictures with icloud so if you logon with your Apple ID and password you should see all of the pictures on your iphone.  You should be able to download them from there without installing the icloud app they offer you - it mostly copies pics on your PC up to icloud.

That was an eye-opener. Thank you so much.   .... batpark
