zep516 and phillpower2, I thought I did close this topic back in July, but obviously I did not.  I sincerely apologize.  I have not excuses, I'm just an old screw-up.  Jim Go to the full post »

My HP Lasejet 6P is not printing.  My computer uses WIndows 7 Professional (64bit system).  The printer operated perfectly but this morning it stopped immediately after a Windows update.  This is not the first time Updates have goofed things up.

I removed the printer and added it again.  HP asks what system I use and what version, but it does not list WIndows 7.  I chose Vista 64 bit but I still can't print.  I removed and added it back and tried XP 64 but still I can't print.

The machine will print the test page when I push the Go button, but can not print from any software nor can it print the test page if sent from the computer.  Also there is not document in the Print Queue.

I'm ready to NEVER update Windows again!

zep516,

Thanks for the reply.  I apologize for my computer shortcomings.  Where is the "printer properties/ports screen and how do I find it?"

The URL that Rmagarian quotes in the forum message is no longer valid.

If I may chime in folks  :)

Have you tried a system restore point that is before the latest updates were installed.
