okay so apparently dr.watson has found a problem. :tazz: every time i attempt to open, move, or right click on certain files, my computer freezes up. eventually sometimes an error report will pop up that says dr. watson postmortem debugger has experienced a problem and needs to close. sorry for the inconvenience. and another thing usually the files affected by this watson thing are media files like pictures or videos. I seem to be able to avoid getting this message by not right clicking on certain files but it's been a hindrance and there are files that i can't view, delete or alter as a result. i'm familiar with computers but i'm not familiar with hijackthis which seems to have been mentioned over and over again in this forum, so basically my knowledge is limited. in short how can I get rid of this?????thanks ;)

Hi wbrap,

Dr Watson is an important debugger program. It logs the events at the time of crash and provides input to people to get the PC back in shape. So the problem is not with Dr Watson. These is some other problem on your PC !!!!

Please download Hijack This and save it in a new folder - C:\HJT. Run HJT and click on Scan. Copy the log file here in your reply and I will have a look at it !!!

Hi Wbrap,

Please print out these instructions or copy them into a text file on your Desktop for easy access.

During the fix, u will be asked to fix some entries, delete some files or uninstall sosme programs. If in case, you do not see those entries / files / programs, please make a note of it. Continue with the fix and in your next post please inform me of all deviations from the fix prescribed.

Run Ewido full scan. Let it fix any items it finds.

Hi wbrap,

Your log looks clean. Please use your PC for a day or so and let me know if everything goes fine. I will then tell you on how to prevent infections in future.

Yes, you can delete CWShredder. You can however keep Ewido and use it for scanning your PC every once in a while. Remember to update the definitions file so as to get the latest protection.

unfortunately my computer still seems to be experiencing difficulties. dr. watson reported an error once again. i ran all the scans but there were some i couldn't find in the hijackthis so i would just delete all the possibilites for that. like if it started with search bar i might just delete all of them so i don't think i missed any files in that because you said it looked clean. but when i was in add/remove programs i found this thing that said mywebsearch tool bar or something like that but when i tried to remove it it said it couldn't find the file or couldn't complete the task. so then i search for mywebsearch on my computer and deleted all the files i could, but apparently one is still there. so i don't know what to do. i still can't right click on media files. or some other things as well.

Hi wbrap,

Can you visit Kaspersky and do an online scan ??

This should tell us if any infections are hidden. Post the scan results here
