I am having trouble reformatting an 80GB hard drive. It is for a an Compaq Presario 5070. I have a 30GB in there now. I would like to upgrade to the 80gb to put more games on there. When I go to reformat it says that I have only like 7 GB on the drive. I think the hard drive had Win XP on there too. How do I get the full 80 GB back if I can? I believe the hard drive is a Western Digital. Thanks for the help.

Hi,
If I remember correctly you need to check the BIOS to see if there is some option related with the HDD where you can select LBA mode.

I did not know this was going to be so hard. I already formatted the drive and it says that I have on 7GB left. The drive I do not think has left on the hard drive. It is a Windows 98SE computer.

It won't be to hard if you follow the instructions in my first post, then follow these instructions to post a screenshot.
when you have the screen up that you want to capture...click on the ALT key + PRT SCR key..its on the top row..right hand side..now click on start...all programs...accessories...paint....left click in the white area ...press CTRL + V...click on file...click on save...save it to your desktop...name it something related to the screen your capturing... BE SURE TO SAVE IT AS A .JPG ...otherwise it may be to big to upload...
then after typing in any response you have... click on browse...desktop...find the screenshot..select it and click on the upload button...then on the lower left...after it says upload successful...click on add reply like you normally would..

Okay do I take a screenshot of the 30GB or the 80GB? Thanks again for the help. One more thing I forgot to say. I am unhooking the 30GB and I am hooking up the 80GB to format the drive. They are both IDE hard drives.

Don;t disconnect any drives at the moment.
When you do the following, all drives will be displayed, so just post a screenshot of the whole window,
Open the run box and copy/paste, diskmgmt.msc > click OK.
When Disk Management opens, > go full screen then take a screenshot and include in your reply

It is not letting me do the diskmgmt.msc command. It says cannot see it.

Please try.
Left click start,
In the search box, left click > type, Disc Management, > press enter.
When Disc Management window opens, > go full screen and take a screenshot.
