Hi,

 

I work online as an English teacher with students in China. Recently I've had issues with my PING, it's too high and interferes greatly. The internet speed and PING are great when connecting to server nearby, however the company I work with requires I connect to a server in Hong Kong and this increases the PING considerably (from 29 mms - 265 mms). I've tried every possible solution I found online to try and reduce it with no luck so far. Downloaded, Haste, Kill Ping, and Wtfast but these seem to only serve online gaming. 

Is there anyone here who might have a possible solution or idea?

I use a direct internet connection btw. Thanks in advance

There isn't really such a thing as "PING is too high and interferes" that you can "reduce it". The Ping is the time it takes for your traffic to go to the destnication and come back, and this very much depnds in the destination's connection and your ISP connection to the destniation network.

 

(I think that 265 ms is not that bad for such a connection to China.)

Well I didnt think so either until I was disconnected constantly and was told by the Chinese company that my PING needed to be at least 210. After searching the internet, I did come across several options that do help reduce it unfortunately they were only available for online gaming as I mentioned before.

Because your connecting to Hong Kong, there are a number of issues that could be outside of resolving at this time do to local concerns.  Unfortunately the only real way to reduce your ping is to reduce the number of stops your traffic has to take to get to the destination.

 

1:  change your DNS provider.

•      Google  https://developers.g...eed/public-dns/
•      Quad 9 https://www.quad9.net/microsoft/

2:  Use a vpn service and see if that helps.

It is possible that your "PING needs to be at least 210", but... there is still the fact that the Ping is an actual time it takes to connect to that place.

Those mentioned solutions are like VPNs either by connecting you to a fast network and you play through that network, or by connecting you to games on their fast cloud network (instead of locally.) And they will mainly help to rule out "other issues" that cause latency, not the fact that connection to the actual destination is slow.

Chinese internet connection to the outside world is notorious with the Network Latency, good explainer here: https://vpnreviewer....ernet-vpn-china so the only way to improve it probably to find a good VPN and connect to a Chinese server.

 

As starjax pointed out, ExpressVPN is a good option to try.
